Westover Companies makes charitable donations to help the homeless

Both organizations focus on helping low-income homeless families and individuals find housing

KING OF PRUSSIA (January 29, 2019) The Westover Companies announced today that the company donated $100,000 to Deep Roots and the Community Coalition for Affordable Housing (CCAH) in 2018, two organizations dedicated to ending homelessness through transitional housing and providing programs to help families get back on their feet. Westover’s donations will help fund these organizations’ missions towards providing long-term shelter, food, clothing, household items, as well as pay for operating expenses for a number of their communities.

“The tremendous generosity and support Deep Roots has received from Westover Companies enables us to serve more and more homeless families and children than we could have possibly done without them,” said Ola Boswell, Executive Director of Deep Roots, Inc.

“CCAH is very grateful for the support from Westover Companies which will help provide expanded capacity and serve more of the needy homeless in Cecil County,” Mark Koster, Executive Director of CCAH commented.

Jody Pierson, who is in charge of Westover’s philanthropy committee, remarks, “Our business is built on providing housing to the best of our ability but we also recognize the need to help our local communities and the families experiencing homelessness. Westover is dedicated to giving back to local communities through programs like Deep Roots and other various programs we support.”

According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness’ January 2017 study, there were approximately 553,742 people experiencing homelessness on any given night in the US, with approximately 33% (184,661) being adults and children in families. Since 2007, homelessness has decreased 14% overall and across subpopulations (2017 State of Homelessness Report, National Alliance to End Homelessness). Such decreases over time are due to the charitable donations from companies like Westover who are trying to make a difference in their local communities.
